Risk assessment

Every organisation should have a Health and Safety policy which you, as a tutor, should know about and follow. But here we look specifically at some of the risks that can crop up in Sport and fitness disciplines and what you can do to minimise them or remove them altogether.

This is especially important as the law requires providers, including tutors, to take steps to make sure that learners are safe. Despite this, insufficient attention to health and safety issues has been identified as a weakness in Sports and fitness classes in many inspections.

But remember to consult your manager about any changes you would like to make to current working practices.

This resource relates to the theme: Improving teaching and learning, particularly the sub-theme, Safety and well-being.
