Making accredited courses relevant
Getting it right for the learner on accredited ICT courses can be a challenge. Getting through the syllabus can sometimes seem like the opposite end of the spectrum from addressing the needs and purposes of learners. This need not be the case, and these activities will help tutors develop ideas about how to cover the syllabus while focusing firmly on what learners themselves want to learn.
Facilitators should encourage tutors to be sensitive to the possible literacy, language and numeracy needs of their learners, and to keep in
mind the new ICT Skills for Life standards at:

If you are new to engagement with Skills for Life, a useful general starting point is

which you can explore as required. The section on teaching and learning gives a good quick overview of the Skills for Life agenda. If you are
already involved in Skills for Life, you may find it useful to receive the regular updates from the site.
